Courses & Training

Food Safety Supervisor Training

Each program is offered under fully flexible delivery with two hours per week work release. Students are supplied with all text books, work books, work book of activities and on-site practical assessments.

On-site flexible delivery allows students to progress according to their own capabilities and where applicable accelerate their course to complete early. BITA programs are ideally suited to passionate and motivated students with employers who are keen to support and pass on their skills and expertise to the next generation of tradespeople.

All BITA trainers have extensive trade experience.

On-site delivery benefits:

  • The employer is directly involved in training and mentoring the apprentice;

  • the apprentice can apply their training directly to the real bakery environment;

  • allows training to take place throughout the year rather than having to wait until the next block course;

  • training can be customised to suit apprentices’ capabilities;

  • clustering of related units enables accelerated progression and assists in linking learning processes;

  • saves both the employer and apprentice money; and

  • no travel/accommodation costs to apprentices.

Example of Program Delivery

John is a first year baker apprentice currently undertaking the baking units.

For the baking units John receives a text book, work book and work book of activities containing theory and practical information. John completes his work book of activities and learning during his regular release from productive work with the mentoring of his supervising tradesperson. If John has any difficulties with any part of the course he can easily contact his dedicated trainer.

Whenever John completes the work book and assessments his trainer will provide feed back. John will also undergo practical assessment on baking bread. When John passes both the theory and practical assessment he can be deemed competent for those units.

John can then immediately commence the next unit without delay.

Throughout John’s program, feedback and progression reports are provided to him, his employer and supervising tradesperson.

All training is delivered under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) which provides for nationally recognised programs.
